Musicians, composers and music lovers would agree that MIDI revolutionised music making, writing and recording. MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and stores information for sound such as values for the note's pitch, length, and volume.
MIDI files can be shared across different computer platforms and software and makes it easy to collaborate and share music.
Many common instruments today have MIDI In/Out/Through capability and can be connected to a computer interface to record MIDI music files. But the easiest way to create music files is connecting a digital keyboard which can control many different instruments through the sound module.
Software programs like Sibelius and Reason can be used to create and / or edit MIDI files.
